“Companions of Trade” Making-of
This traveling exhibition asks the visitor why if many centuries ago man knew how to relate to his environment and his climate, using the means at his disposal, now he seems incapable of defining his way of living without resorting to an unnecessary waste of resources. To do this, it proposes a reflection on the role of anonymous architecture used as a reference in the work of contemporary architects who try to recover their rational teachings, conceiving a new architecture adjusted to the needs of our society, optimizing the resources and possibilities of technology. current to achieve a higher quality of life with less cost and impact.
This common landscape that is organized around the architecture and the thinking of its builders returns us to the territory of the senses, to the experience of a more human and close space. Which we intend to reflect in its exhibition setup, in the idea of continuity between parts, while in the movement between lattices intimacy is achieved between each of them. Various spaces organized from a module, that of the container for roaming, that of the removable lattices, that of the boxes that contain the models, and panels that can be deployed on walls or form a light lantern.
The alternatives to the reorganization of space are based on the modularity of all the elements, which allows the wooden feet to form walls, floors and ceilings of different heights, adapted to different spaces. Organizing a framework of diverse volumes that accompany the earth colors in the darkness of the rooms, to be shown between transition spaces towards the shadow, in which the volume of light of the models stands out. Rooms with their own stories, houses with luminous inhabitants that question us about a better future, more related to our environment and its inhabitants.
With our thanks to Pedro de Llano, curator of the exhibition, for everything we have shared in these two years of the exhibition project, which as of April 2013 begins to travel to carry a message of reflection and ethics in the way we confront our territory and the constructions of its population. We leave you with Pedro's words on November 7, 2012, the day of the opening of the exhibition at the Barrie Foundation in A Coruña.
